Founded in 1791, the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), University of London, is at the forefront of teaching, research and practice in biological sciences and veterinary medicine, and has been behind some important advances in the history of disease control, evolution, and human and animal welfare and medicine.

NUMBER 1 VETERINARY SCHOOL IN THE UK AND EU

  • Based in Camden (London) and on a 575-acre site in Hertfordshire, its two campuses offer a friendly, supportive environment with state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and learning.
  • It is the largest and longest-established vet school in the English-speaking world and is a college of the University of London.
  • Veterinary medicine courses are accredited by AVMA, EAEVE, RCVS and AVBC, veterinary nursing courses are accredited by ACOVENE and RCVS, and biological sciences courses are accredited by the Royal Society of Biology.
  • The broad range of programmes (Biological Sciences, Bioveterinary Sciences, Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Nursing) are of international appeal and attract students who go on to become practising veterinarians, animal and human health scientists, veterinary nurses and leaders in industry and government.
  • RCVS accreditation ensures RVC veterinary graduates are licensed to work in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, as well as South Africa and our biological science programme is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology.
  • The RVC’s Bioveterinary Sciences course was the first of its kind in the UK and is consistently ranked within the top 10 of UK Biosciences courses.
  • The RVC owns the London BioScience Innovation Centre (LBIC), London’s largest bioscience incubator, which is home to over 40 biotechnology and life science companies – from small start-ups to more established players
  • In 2013, the RVC achieved the unique distinction of being the only veterinary school in the world to hold full accreditation from American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE), Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and Australasian Veterinary Boards Council Inc (AVBC).
  • 93% of graduates find employment/further study within six months of graduating.
